Arrrrrg! A Pirate's treasure!

This cake was made for a seven-year-old's pirate themed birthday. A treasure chest complete with edible treasures and edible sand! What pirate wouldn't love to undig that?!

I LOVE how this cake turned out! One of my new favorites! It took me a bit to figure out the logistics to this one, but I am thrilled with it! I was able to use a new technique to make the fondant look like wood.

This cake is a 'funfetti' cake (why do kids always pick that kind?) with a buttercream filling. I have revamped my icing and my husband says that it is pretty darn tasty, which for him is a BIG compliment!
